Join to apply for the ETL Tester role at Tata Consultancy Services 1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants Join to apply for the ETL Tester role at Tata Consultancy Services Must Have Technical/Functional Skills Languages: SQL, Unix Shell Tools: Ab Initio Databases: Db2 Dev Methodologies: Agile, Waterfall, SDLC Others: JIRA, Control-M, and Microsoft Office Roles & Responsibilities Strong expertise in ETL testing lifecycle, including source-to-target mapping validation, data transformation logic, data reconciliation, data integrity, and duplicate checks using Ab Initio. Perform daily ETL job monitoring, validating success/failure of scheduled ETL loads, and logging defects or performance bottlenecks during data movement. Develop and execute SQL queries to validate large datasets across staging, transformation, and target layers. Validate business rules implementation in the ETL processensuring derived columns, aggregation logic, and filters are functioning as expected. Conduct data reconciliation by comparing record counts and sampling data between source systems (Oracle,DB2) and target data warehouse/marts. Perform incremental load verification, data truncation checks, null checks, data type/length checks, and primary-foreign key relationship validation. Analyze and validate ETL mappings, sessions, workflows, and parameter files for proper configuration and expected behavior. Log and track defects using tools like JIRA, HP ALM, or TestRail, and participate in daily stand-ups and defect triage meetings. Design and document test plans, test cases, and RTM (Requirement Traceability Matrix) to ensure comprehensive test coverage. Validate data archival and purging processes, checking for compliance with retention and governance policies. Collaborate with data architects, ETL developers, business analysts, and BI/reporting teams to understand requirements and ensure quality data delivery. Support regression testing and release validation during production migrations and version upgrades. Build automated SQL scripts and shell scripts to validate high-volume ETL jobs and reduce repetitive testing tasks. Perform data quality checks like completeness, consistency, accuracy, referential integrity, and threshold-based anomaly checks. Support UAT cycles by preparing validated data sets and assisting business users with query validations and reporting output. Engage in back-end testing of BI reports (TableauPower BI/BO) by validating data lineage from source to report layer. Experienced in Agile/Scrum environments, aligning ETL testing efforts with CI/CD pipelines and sprint releases. Strong communication and documentation skills, working with cross-functional teams to meet delivery deadlines in highly regulated environments. Automated ETL test cases using Python and SQL scripting to validate d ata integrity, transformation logic, and record-level data reconciliation between source and target systems, reducing manual testing efforts by 60%. Developed data-driven test automation framework integrated with Informatica workflows and Control-M job schedules to auto-trigger data validation post-load, enabling continuous integration and faster defect detection in staging environments.
