Job Description

The STS Accounting Methods group helps companies optimize their federal tax accounting methods, including IRC 263(A) capitalization, depreciation accounting methods, expense acceleration, and revenue deferral. STS Accounting Methods is part of BDOs Specialized Tax Services (STS) business, which is composed of various tax consulting practices designed to help companies comply with specific areas of federal, state, and international tax law.

Job Summary

As an STS Tax Senior Manager, Accounting Methods, you will help achieve BDOs core purposeHelping People Thrive Every Dayby helping both public and private companies identify federal tax benefits and correct federal tax exposures. Our clients are leaders in industries such as technology, manufacturing, healthcare, architecture/engineering services, and consumer products. You will have the opportunity to innovate and collaborate with colleagues across business lines and with clients leaders in tax, accounting, finance, and operations.

The role involves gaining and improving skills in technical areas, communication, project management, practice management, and business development.

Job Duties

• Research: Conduct investigations on tax topics, prepare studies, and develop presentations.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure client compliance, identify tax minimization options, and complete workpapers and forms.
• Tax Consulting: Develop solutions for clients to maximize tax benefits, stay informed on legal developments, and optimize tax positions.
• Tax Controversy: Represent clients before tax authorities and respond to inquiries.
• Tax Specialization: Develop expertise in tax accounting methods and identify client opportunities.
• Strategy Development: Develop strategies to advance client and firm interests and suggest marketing approaches.
• Marketing and Business Development: Exhibit thought leadership, develop go-to-market strategies, and deliver presentations.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and evaluate work of team members, and act as a career advisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance required; Masters and JD preferred.
• 7+ years of federal tax client service experience, supervisory experience required.
• CPA, Attorney, or EA certification required.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication, analytical, research, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage teams, build relationships, and act as a primary contact.

Salary range varies by location, with a national range of $99,750 - $262,500.
