Overview:

The Meals on Wheels (MOW) program seeks a passionate and motivated Volunteer Recruitment Consultant to help strengthen our volunteer base in Decatur, IL. This role is vital to the growth of our program as we aim to better serve our community by engaging individuals and organizations in meaningful volunteer opportunities. As a contract consultant, you will focus on recruiting passionate individuals, promoting volunteer needs, and establishing long-term strategies for ongoing recruitment. This position is contractual and expected to end at the end of September 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Recruitment:
    • Proactively recruit individuals to volunteer with MOW through direct outreach, events, and digital platforms.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders and organizations to expand the volunteer base.
  • Marketing & Outreach:
    • Market the Meals on Wheels mission to promote the need for volunteers. Schedule and deliver presentations to businesses, schools, civic organizations, churches, and social clubs across Decatur and Macon County to inform them about MOW’s volunteer opportunities and the impact they can make on the community.
    • Develop and distribute marketing materials to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Registration & Tracking:
    • Oversee the registration process for new volunteers, ensuring accurate data collection and tracking of recruitment progress.
  • Follow-Up Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement a long-term volunteer recruitment strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in volunteer recruitment and community outreach. Experience working with nonprofits or in a similar capacity is a plus.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to engage with a variety of audiences and tailor messaging to different groups.
    • Strong organizational skills with experience in tracking and managing recruitment efforts.
  • Attributes:
    • Passion for community service.
    • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Additional:
    • Must be able to travel within Macon County for speaking engagements and meetings with local organizations.

Contract Details:

  • This is a contract position with forecasted 25 hours/ week.
  • Competitive hourly rate, starting at $30/hour.
  • The duration of the contract is expected to be July through September.
