Job Description

The Volunteer Coordinator and Recruiter leads volunteer recruitment, engagement and recognition initiatives. CK volunteers support weekly Bingo games and preparation work, and provide transportation for READY program students as needed. The Coordinator will have direct supervisory responsibility for Bingo volunteers; volunteers who fulfill other programmatic needs are supervised by another CK staff member.

Core Responsibilities

  • Recruit & onboard new volunteers

    • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for seeking new volunteers.

    • Attend networking and community events to locate potential new volunteers. These events may occur outside of traditional business hours.

    • Receive inquiries via the website, email and phone from interested volunteers and screen individuals for appropriate interests and feasibility.

    • Coordinate the onboarding process for Bingo volunteers, including training and refreshers while onsite.

    • Coordinate the onboarding process for Knight Rides drivers, including administration of paperwork and facilitate disability awareness training. Note: actual scheduling and evaluation of volunteer drivers is handled by the Transportation Coordinator.

  • Manage volunteer activities

    • Organize and supervise Bingo volunteers, providing guidance, support, and resources to facilitate their success in their respective roles. This means the individual will need to be on-site for Bingo games and prep, which occur during these days/times at the time of this posting: Wednesdays, 4:30 - 10:30 pm and Fridays from 10 am - 1 pm.

    • Develop position descriptions and standard operating procedures for all volunteer roles.

    • Monitor and evaluate volunteers’ performance, ensuring compliance with CK policies and procedures.

    • Implement best practices for volunteer recognition to foster a sense of belonging and motivation among volunteers.

    • Facilitate and support volunteer retention activities.

  • Program Administration & Marketing

    • Updating CMS (currently Bloomerang) with individual contact information and hours volunteered.

    • Provide appropriate documentation confirming volunteer hours as needed for internal use and third-party reporting.

    • Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues to develop content for both print and digital marketing and promotional materials, including one-sheets, ads, solicitations, social media channels, and our website.

Additional Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Collaborate and engage with other staff members (in-person or remotely via GoogleChat, Email, phone, and or text).

  • Participate in staff meetings as required.

  • Attend various events in support of our mission as required, which may be outside of traditional business hours.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and/or experience supporting individuals with disabilities through appropriate use of accommodations. All CK staff must pass criminal and social services background checks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience and success in volunteer management or related roles.

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills are required.

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed.

  • Must model professionalism and embody the mission of Community Knights in interactions with others.

  • Growth mindset, empathy, and emotional intelligence desired.

  • Reliable transportation required.

  • Proficiency with using and learning technology for communication, documentation, and file sharing is essential. Experience with Google Suite of applications, Canva, and/or Bloomerang is a plus.

Benefits

  • Person-first, inclusive culture

  • Ability to develop flexible hybrid schedule (remote/in-person)

  • Dog-friendly, child-friendly office environment

  • Flexible leave policy including several paid holidays and two weeks of paid vacation
